The Ghana football awards 2022 winners will be known by the general public today, 2nd July as scheduled by the authorities.

The Ghana Football Awards is an annual program designed to honor the top Ghanaian footballers competing both domestically and abroad as well as important players and stakeholders who have made major contributions to the game.

The season under review’s most exceptional performers are recognized with a variety of prizes. Each year, the awards are given out in July in Accra, Ghana, during a spectacular event.

The event for this year will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Grande Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.

One of the awards that a lot of people are looking up to is the Footballer of the year. The winner will replace Andre Ayew, who won the honor the previous year, as the Ghana Footballer of the Year after competing against the other four players.

Five Ghanaian players who plays their football outside the country has made it to the shortlisted names of the player the year award at the Ghana Football awards 2022.

Three of these five play in the English Premier League, one in the English lower division and the other is a France based player. Identifying these player; the Deputy Captain of the Black star and Arsenal star, Thomas Partey; Mohammed Salisu of Southampton; Leicester City player, Daniel Amartey; Strasbourg defender, Alexander Djiku and the Charlton Athletic goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott.

The Home-based Footballer of the Year category, which honors Ghanaians and international players in the local league, is among the thrilling categories in addition to the Football of the Year, which is the cherry on top.


Imoro Ibrahim and Franck Embella Etouga, two players from the league champion Asante Kotoko, are up for the honor this year. To win the prize, they must defeat rivals Yaw Annor of Ashgold and Agustine Okrah of Bechem United.

In 2018 the AE Mediacom together with a group of creative content producers together with a sports journalist birthed the first-ever Ghana Football Awards, which was officially launched in May 2018 and had its first edition in July 2018 to birth the first-ever Ghana Football Awards.


The award scheme was officially launched in May 2018 and had its first edition in July 2018. The scheme held in the July to take advantage of the pre-season period which would see most of Ghanaian footballers playing outside the country back home for the holidays.


The award scheme is led by governing board made up of (Ghanaian players) Augustine Ahinful, Abukari Damba, John Paintsil, Alex Kotey (referee) and Karl Tufuoh (sports journalist). The board was chaired by Karl Tufuoh.
